The celebration this year will have a host of fun and educational activities for town residents and families. Attendees can visit various environmental and tree related booths to learn about tree care and maintenance, and children can participate in tree-related crafts. There will be a “name the tree” contest to name our town Arbor Day tree (enter your proposed tree name here), and the Tree Council will be handing out 16 different types of bareroot tree seedlings for families to plant in their yards (while supplies last).
Trees to be given away include lilac, dogwood, redbud, white oak, serviceberry, red maple, pussywillow, river birch, persimmon, white spruce, arborivitae, magnolia, paw paw, rose of sharon, elderberry, and shagbark hickory. See here for photos and a description of each of these trees.
There will also be live music and delicious food! Arbor Day Fest will be held rain or shine.
After you plant your new tree, contribute to New York State’s 25 million trees initiative by registering your new tree in the Tree Tracker. Be prepared to provide the location of tree. Also register any trees you planted in 2024.
