The Summer Tree Photo Contest Starts on June 21 and runs through Sept 5 Sep 21. Take photos displaying summer activities involving a tree or trees in your yard. Submit your best photo here.

We have decided to give the Arbor Day trees that we plant every year special recognition. This year we planted a White Oak at the Niskayuna Town Hall and called on residents to submit nominations for a name of this tree. Niskayuna residents then voted on their favorites at Niska Day. The trees and activities for our 2025 festival of Arbor Day have been planned and organized. Go here to find our more information.

After planting a new tree, click here to enter your new tree into the Tree Tracker, and see your contribution added to the statewide total on the live-updated interactive map on the 25 Million Trees Initiative webpage.  Be prepared to provide the location and number of trees planted. Also register trees planted in 2024.

The DEC’s annual spring seedlings sale is now, and runs through May 14. Every seedling planted will help the state to progress in its goal to plant 25 million trees by 2033. Click here to read the CBS News bulletin
