Keeping up with your new Arbor Day tree

Every year, thousands of baby trees are distributed in celebration of Arbor Day. The Niskayuna Tree Council would love to see how well the ones we distribute do after we say good bye. Do they grow to maturity, and make an impact in people’s yards?

As part of the 2025 Arbor Day Fest, we offer the following challenge, with prizes to be awarded. When you take home a free tree and plant it on your property, commit to helping it thrive to adulthood. Photograph your journey and upload the photos here periodically throughout the year. Next year, we will award prizes for:

  1. most tree growth,
  2. most unique portrayal of your journey with your new tree in its first year,
  3. best description or representation of the value your new tree adds to your yard or property.

Submit a photo here, fill in your name and contact information, and tell us a bit about the tree since you planted it or since your last submission.
